We offer a three year Key Stage 3 programme that students follow in Years 7, 8 and 9. All students follow the same curriculum which meets all National Curriculum requirements.
Personal, social and health education is delivered through Personal Guided Learning Time and collapsed timetable days.
Students are taught in ability sets for all subjects except Technology, Art and Physical Education. This ensures all students receive a tailored teaching approach to meet their individual needs. Our Key Stage 3 curriculum is designed to ensure that all students develop the key skills, particularly literacy, that they will need to be successful at Key Stage 4 and beyond.
All students have five 1-hour English lessons a week, one of which is specifically focused on students developing their reading comprehension skills through using the Accelerated Reader programme. In addition to their normal English and maths lessons, many of our students also receive additional support in these subjects either through small group sessions during the school day or individual tuition during Curriculum Reinforcement time. Progress in literacy and numeracy is also supported by the Personal Guided Learning sessions that all students attend daily with their form tutor.
